Founded in 1920 by Bernard Leach and Shoji Hamada, the Leach Pottery is among the most respected and influential studio potteries in the world. The studio is still situated in St Ives in Cornwall where the potters are inspired by its rugged beauty and rich geology.

Leach Standard Ware is thrown on the potters wheel with local Cornish St Agnes clay and glazed by hand using their unique and expressive studio glazes. This is beautiful handcrafted pottery.  We love it!

Small Jug

A versatile and attractive little jug.

Ash - Mixed using locally sourced wood ash, this glaze is a soft translucent green, tending towards subtle variations depending on the ash supplied.

Dolomite - This creamy blue-white dolomite glaze is named for the high percentage of the mineral dolomite in the mix. Iron in the clay body comes through, lending the glaze a hint of blue.

Tenmoku - Originating in China, this iron-rich glaze gives a deep black finish, breaking to red-brown where it is thinner.

Please be aware that each item is thrown by hand and although sizes and capacities are as accurate as possible, they are approximate. Also due to the unpredictability of the firing process and materials, all glaze finishes are unique and can vary.
