Leach Porcelain Beaker
Founded in 1920 by Bernard Leach and Shoji Hamada, the Leach Pottery is among the most respected and influential studio potteries in the world. The studio is still situated in St Ives in Cornwall where the potters are inspired by its rugged beauty and rich geology.
Leach Standard Ware is thrown on the potters wheel with local Cornish St Agnes clay and glazed by hand using their unique and expressive studio glazes. This is beautiful handcrafted pottery. We love it!
A simple and tactile drinking cup. This specialised range is hand thrown using high quality porcelain. Known for its whiteness and translucency porcelain is lighter and more delicate than stoneware, but just as strong and durable. Decorated with a Chinese style ying ching glaze, the rim of each piece is then brushed with iron oxide giving the glaze a soft translucent blue tone. The pots are fired to 1280 degrees Celsius using the same process as the stoneware range and are laboratory tested for food safety.
Please be aware that each item is thrown by hand and although sizes and capacities are as accurate as possible, they are approximate. Also due to the unpredictability of the firing process and materials, all glaze finishes are unique and can vary.
